KURT: First, schedule a free consultation. Consultations are an incredibly important tool to get you started on the right foot with training. Here I gather and record essential information about your training and health history, as well as your current lifestyle habits associated with diet, training, sleep, stress, etc. Consultations can be booked through clicking on the Contact page on this website.

During the consult, I perform a body composition assessment, which involves establishing precise measurements of the following: weight, height, body circumference, BMI (Body Mass Index – your weight to height ratio) as well as your current body fat and lean muscle. This is instrumental in establishing the desired change goals you seek for your body. In addition to this, we draw out and establish all other desired goals you seek through fitness. As there are countless benefits to fitness, the initial consultation allows me to find out what you truly wish to achieve so we can set specific goals and align them with a clear plan and personalized training program to get you started and making positive changes quickly.

QUESTION: How is Personal Training with you better than just joining a gym and training by myself?

KURT: Simply put, the number one reason for the consistent success of my clients is accountability. Accountability in personal training means a client is assigned scheduled personal training and will report to me about what they’ve been eating in addition. Without a scheduled session waiting for you, it’s easy to skip on your training if left to your own devices. This ongoing appointment obligation, in conjunction with well structured, strategic training and dietary corrections typically result in impressive results within the shortest time possible when compared to training alone. Under my supervision, your time spent training is maximized, resulting in much faster results. Plus, I’m one helluva motivator! I live for getting impressive results in my clients. Solid results paired with keeping training challenging but fun is what has kept me so busy as a trainer for over 10 and counting now.

QUESTION: In addition to personal training sessions, will you provide me with a training program that I can use on my own?

KURT: You better believe it! I get clients to their goals even faster if they also regularly train on their own! My ultimate goal is to empower my clients to be fully capable of training independently through providing them with an ongoing personalized training program that they can easily follow on their without me. First I establish the foundational basics of training through instilling proper form associated with a wide variety of exercises. Proper tempo, proper rest periods and proper ordering of exercises are also taught in a simple, easy to understand manner. I regularly update a client’s individualized program through email at the conclusion of each week. Some of my clients have a massive personalized database of workouts and programs to draw from. Ultimately, most clients choose to take over 100% control of their training and fitness lifestyle, and manage it successfully for many years afterwards.

QUESTION: I’m really out of shape. Should try to get in decent shape first before taking on personal training with Kurt to be ready?

KURT: Trying to train and get in shape to ‘be ready’ for personal training is like trying to clean your house before your cleaner comes over. That’s my job! People typically take the step with personal training because they are not in good shape and do not have a clear plan of how to get in shape.
